Anymote

Good news for couch potatoes everywhere. One your of dream devices is finally becoming reality with Anymote universal remote. No, it doesn’t respond to voice commands and have an awesome self –aware AI just yet, but it’s a step towards the right direction.

A start-up company from California called Color Tiger has submitted a plan to kickstarter.com. This project worked around producing a transmitter that would control almost all your devices from your android or iphon via bluetooth. The device is pegged to be compatible with over 800,000 remote controlled devices. This solves all your problems of losing the remote for the TV or radio, since you always have your cell phone on hand all the time.

Setting things up

Anymote transmitters look like small cones with the top portion cut off. You can make it work by aligning each transmitter with a device within its line of sight.

You then download the app that comes free on the app store or google play, install it into your phone and voila, instant universal remote control.

Once you have installed your app, launch it and wait for it to detect your transmitter. It shouldn’t take you longer than 2 seconds. After detecting the transmitter, you then have to set up each device by putting in the make, model, and type of device. The app would then look for the exact remote control setting that would work well with the device you chose.

You may have to repeat the process for each device that you detect. Don’t worry, this is only done once and after you will have a no hassle, hands free way to get around your house devices.

Anymote

Range of control

As was indicated the Anymote can control a lot of different devices around the house but wouldn’t it be a hassle to go through one setting at a time? That would take up a lot of time to finish setting each of your devices. The inventors of Anymote  inventors already thought about that and placed in a function that would save a preset programs for all your device and place them under one category. Let’s say you come into your house and want to unwind, there are several things you want to do first, turn on the tv, then the AC, then dim some of the lights. Anymote can do all three at the same time.

Price and kickstart status:

Right now, Anymote is at $75K of its targeted $50K budget. So expect to see Anymote Home on shelves soon.
