As the company behind the world’s most used search engine, the world’s most used mobile operating system and dozens of other popular services including YouTube and Google Plus, Google have an awful lot of account details on their hands.

Plenty of us use Google accounts to sync password data across our devices and many more have Google accounts just because interacting with YouTube (such as if you want to like or comment on a video) deems it necessary. That’s exactly why it’s so troubling that the data of 5 million accounts has been posted online in a massive leak.
